Our Kim Bong Carpentry Village Tour

The Champa’s (the original people of Hoi An) built wooden boats for their sea going trade and many were probably built in Hoi An. Villages such as Kim Bong have a proud heritage as shipwrights, wood carvers & cabinet makers

Location

Tour distance is approximately 13 km each way by river from Karma Waters to Kim Bong village on Cam Kim Island.

Voyage time

Half day tour - approximately 75 minutes each way by lifeboat plus 1 hour spent in village.

Departure time

8 am morning departure when lifeboat is available.  Daylight hours only.

Things to see and feel

Local fishing communities and boats. Water buffalos and cattle grazing.  Birds include egrets, herons and kingfishers.  Local woodwork crafts of wood carving and carpentry including boat building.

Best time to go

Early morning when the river is calm.

We sail in all but the roughest of weather 12 months/year – we have overhead rain & sun protection & rain protection with plastic folding windows

Rate per passenger for 2010

US$26 per passenger.  Minimum 2 persons.  Deposit 50% required for reservation.
