Our Central Highland River Kayak Tour
During Winter with rain and strong rivers take a kayak tour in the highlands above Hoi An.
Location
The streams that feed into the Thu Bon and Vu Gia rivers in the highlands of Central Vietnam close to border with Laos and the town of Khum Duc, in the highlands high above Hoi An.
Tour time
Total one and half days; first day is half day travel by vehicle to Khum Duc and overnight stay at hotel; early departure 6.00 am next morning for full day of kayaking and return journey by vehicle to Hoi An by 6 pm.
Suitable fitness levels
This tour has kayaking on rapids and still waters - an adventure tour. Ideal for healthy and active people with at least some kayaking experience.
Departure time
Hotel pickup at the latest 1 pm (lunch not included).
Things to see and feel
Central highlands are completely different to coastal Vietnam - it is clean, quiet, forests, hilly and often covered in mist and rain. It is the home to minority tribes and forest people. This area high above Hoi An is cool in Spring and Summer - a welcome break from the heat!
Depending on the season, local weather, river conditions and Customer's skill levels a suitable starting point for kayaking is used. At minimum there will have a few mild rapids as well as smooth flowing rivers.
Drift along downstream with the currents and see wildlife, environment, villages, river life, etc.
Lunch and snacks taken when hungry - picnics on the riverside. Vegetarian food provided by Karma Waters.
Return to Hoi An for hotel drop-off by approximately 6.00 pm
Equipment
Single seat sit-on-top style kayaks (safe!) and life jackets provided.
Personal needs
Bring towel, change of clothes, floppy hat, sun block, passport, anorak and other protection against the elements are recommended.
Hotel
Simple, clean with air conditioner is included in the tour price.

Rate per person for 2010
2 days 1 night US$160/ person. Minimum 2 persons. 50% deposit required for reservation.
3 days 2 nights US$240/ person. Minimum 2 persons. 50% deposit required for reservation.
