Hoi An was one of the first stops for Chinese travellors and refugees and still has a very strong Chinese culture & heritage. At the fall of the Ming Dynasty entire armies of Chinese troops escaping the Qing Dynasty armies lived in Hoi An before turning South and starting what became Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City and which still remains the economic driver of Vietnam.
Hoi An has many interesting Chinese ancestral halls and other cultural sites which are included in this tour.
The ancient architecture of Hoi An is fascinating with its wooden single or multi storey buildings - some of these buildings still remain as museums. A number of private family homes still remain.
